Los Angeles will host the Olympic wrestling venue for wrestlers in 2028, and WrestleLA.com is your source for the action, athletes and wrestling events across Southern California during the Games.
Olympic wrestling runs July 24–30, 2028, with competition at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Downtown LA.
Here’s what wrestling fans need to know about the venue, whether you’re traveling to LA or already call Southern California home.
Where Will Wrestling Be Held at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics?
Olympic wrestling will be contested at LA Convention Center Hall 2 in Downtown Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Convention Center is a well-known event destination in LA’s downtown sports and entertainment district. For LA28, Hall 2 converts from convention and exhibition space into an Olympic wrestling venue.
Before wrestling takes over, the Convention Center hosts Olympic judo from July 15–22, 2028. During the Paralympic Games, it’s scheduled to host boccia and para judo.
For wrestling fans, the dates that matter are July 24–30, when the mats take center stage.
How Many Fans Will the Olympic Wrestling Venue Hold?
LA Convention Center Hall 2 is expected to hold approximately 7,000 spectators for Olympic wrestling.
That capacity creates a different atmosphere than wrestling in one of Los Angeles’ larger stadiums or arenas. With fans concentrated around the competition floor, the venue can deliver the close-up intensity wrestling fans know from major championship events.
WrestleLA.com will track developments on Olympic wrestling in Los Angeles as LA28 approaches, including competition information, local wrestling events and resources for fans coming to Southern California.
What Else Happens at the Los Angeles Convention Center?
Long before becoming an Olympic wrestling venue, the LA Convention Center was already one of Southern California’s event destinations.
Its annual calendar has included Anime Expo, the Los Angeles Auto Show, L.A. Comic Con, ComplexCon and KCON, along with events tied to some of the entertainment industry’s biggest awards ceremonies.
The venue also hosted the NBA Crossover concert series during 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend, another example of its range for large-scale sports and entertainment events.
In 2028, Olympic wrestling joins that list.
Has the LA Convention Center Been Used for the Olympics Before?
Yes, but not as a competition venue.
During the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, the LA Convention Center served as the Games’ press headquarters. More than 8,000 accredited print journalists and photographers worked from the facility to cover the Olympics.
2028 changes that. For the first time, the Los Angeles Convention Center will host official Olympic sports competition, including wrestling.
